At Affirmations & Ambience, we want you to enjoy the full experience of our candles safely and effectively. Proper candle maintenance and a suitable environment are key to optimal performance. Follow these tips to make the most of your candle: Trim Your Wick: Before lighting, trim the wick to ¼ inch using a sharp trimmer or scissors. This prevents uneven burning, high flames, smoking, or sooting. Avoid trimming too close to the wax surface to maintain proper wick function. Center and Straighten the Wick: After extinguishing your candle, use tweezers or a snuffer to gently reposition the wick to the center while the wax is still soft. This prevents tunneling and potential glass cracking. Ensure Proper Ventilation: Burn your candle in a well-ventilated room, but away from drafts, vents, or fans to avoid uneven burning and sooting. Maintain a Clean Wax Pool: Keep the wax pool free from debris, including wick trimmings and matches, to ensure a clean burn. Burn Time Matters: Allow your candle to burn for 3-4 hours (or 2 hours for smaller votives) to establish an even wax pool. Burning for shorter or longer periods can cause tunneling or soot buildup. Place Candles Safely: When burning multiple candles, keep them at least 8 inches apart to avoid heat interference. Cool Before Relighting: Let your candle cool completely (about two hours) before trimming the wick and relighting. Monitor Uneven Burning: If a candle burns unevenly despite a centered wick, it may be in a draft. Rotate the candle periodically or move it to a different location for a uniform burn. By following these guidelines, you can enjoy the luxurious ambiance of your Affirmations & Ambience candle while ensuring safety and longevity.

In ideal conditions, 12oz candles burn for up to 90 hours, 5oz candles burn for up to 40 hours. Please note that we aim to ensure all of our candles are as long lasting as possible however burn times do vary based on a variety of factors. These include candle maintenance (whether wicks are being properly trimmed and are centered), the length of each continuous burn time (a longer burn that results in a deeper melted wax pool has the tendency to evaporate faster), candle placement (air-conditioned and drafty areas may affect burn times) and the age of the candle. To get the most out of your candles we always advise that you follow the enclosed burning instructions.
